A. Spangler, age 66 years, 5 months and 5 days, died at his residence in Henrietta
early Monday morning. The body was taken to Cambridge for burial, the funeral
service being conducted by Rev. F. A. Crutchfield of Electra, at 10 o'clock
Tuesday morning. Mr. Spangler, about two months ago, contracted blood poison
from a blister on his foot. After ineffective efforts to stop the spread of
infection, the foot was cut off, the amputition being between the ankle and
knee joints, but this also failed. For several weeks his death has been
expected almost daily. Mr. Spangler is survived by his wife and a family of
children, all of whom are grown. He was one of the pioneers, having lived in
the county something over 35 years. In the late 80's he was associated with
J. F. Alcorn in merchandising, and for many years until a couple of years ago
was with Barber & Taylor and later with L. J. Barber & Co. in the
hardware business, and enjoyed a very wide acquaintance. Clay County Independent(6 July 1917)Frances Sophia Hahn - wife

Mrs. Frances Sophia Spangler, age 68, wife of A. A. Spangler, died at the
family residence in Henrietta, Monday morning of asthma. Funeral services
were conducted at the home Tuesday morning at l0 o'clock, by Reverand F. A.
Crutchfield and the body taken to Cambridge for burial. Mrs. Spangler, with
her husband was one of the pioneer settlers of the county, coming to
Cambridge when that town was first established. They removed to Henrietta 12
or 15 years ago. |
